Though there are those who despise/despised her; they should not celebrate the manner of her death for it forbears of dark days ahead. When a society accepts political assassination vs the ballot box as a means of change or of maintaining the status quo, it portends of civil strife leading to civil war.

In the case of Pakistan, it can only mean many more years of USA supported autocratic rule. I may as well sing the praises of dictators everywhere if I am ever to accept that a military dictatorship is the only option for a country:

They seem to be the accepted solution for countries in need of true leadership- of an iron-fist.

I disagree. Democracy may not be the perfect solution, but it is a better source of freedom than any known system in place. Let the people decide if they wish a king, a dictator, a representative federalist republic, a socialist system. It is the only way I can ever accept a theocracy, a monarchy, a dictatorship, or an autocratic ruler of any kind...otherwise, I accept that the power of might, makes right. Should the people stand up and rebel, by any means necessary, it is their just right.

The quest for freedom may stagnante but it can never be obliterated by acts of despotism, by cruelty, by torture and by acts of murderous cowards. The will of a people can only be stunted for so long before violence and death forces change.

Should any of those who hold dear the words of the Prophet Mohammed- delivered unto him by the Allah himself- believe that injustice, cowardice, and murder are the best ways to extinguish ideas; should they believe that reckless acts of violence are solutions, then damn them. If Mohammed himself were to ever support such a notion, then damn him too.

If I were to believe that Allah would ever support such a notion, or Jesus, or God, or Buddha, or Jehovah, or Yahweh, etc...than damn them all!

The ex is officially on crack. She called me at midnight Saturday night, a call which I missed, since I didn't bother to check my phone until Monday morning. Anyways, I'm figuring this must be important, some kind of emergency for her to be calling me at midnight so I try to reach her today. I called her cell a couple times during the day when I had free time at work.

She finally calls me back and tells me to reach her at her work. When I do, I ask why she called me at midnight, what's up? She tells me nothing is up, she just wanted to discuss some money that I owe her...at MIDNIGHT! Was it a bad time, was I sleeping? My stunned response was a weak, whimpering "No." MIDNIGHT! Who calls at midnight? Especially when you are calling someone you haven't spoken to in a while and who happens to be an ex? I wonder what her new boyfriend thinks about this midnight call...but I digress. Anyways, I told her not to call at midnight unless it is an emergency of some sort.

Robert G. Miller and Future Electronics

The day started as any other, bright and early with a trip on a train. It ended with thoughts of inspiration and feelings of admiration. I was invited to attend the 2^nd Annual, Future Electronics Holiday Concert.

It was a fantastic night at the Bell Centre listening to Bernie Higgins, a man who sings a lot of very famous songs; the kind of famous songs that you take for granted, never asking, “Who sings that song?”

Bernie Higgins was followed by 12 year old songstress, Sara Diamond- the little girl with the big voice; watch out world, Sara is on the way. You can find her MySpace page here

Roberta Flack, are there any worthy adjectives to describe Roberta Flack? Incomparable, exceptional, silky smooth voice, artistry…does any of these words do the woman justice? At the age of …let’s just say north of 60, Roberta Flack held the audience spellbound with her crystalline voice and fluid sounds. Her band and the orchestra were sharp as they helped her deliver memorable performances of such classics as "Killing Me Softly With His Song," "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," and "Tonight I Celebrate My Love.”

Now, you would think that would be enough, however there would be one more performance that evening by none other than Bonnie Tyler, who delivered powerful performances of her classics including "It's a Heartache" and “Total Eclipse of the Heart.” She also threw out a few new songs recently written/co-written by her that more than a few contemporary rock and country artists will want to record.

The musical bombardment was impressively fun but it was not the highlight of the evening. The real highlight was Future Electronics along with its enigmatic founder and leader, Robert G. Miller. Vibrant, electric, and alive, Mr. Miller did two things which will forever be etched in our minds:

He laid out a vision of an extraordinary company that takes care of its community, its people, partners, suppliers and customers. He talked of a forward looking company; a strong, vital organization whose only interest is not just the bottom line, but also the world as it is today and the way it ought to be in the future- involved, caring, and compassionate.

The second thing he did was to discuss a man. This was an extremely powerful moment when he discussed this man. A man who came from modest means: who worked hard, who believed in himself- who had a vision, goals, drive and ambition. He talked about a man who is filled with passion, with love for family, friends, and colleagues. A man who has come to an understanding, that he truly can make a difference. That man he discussed was himself, Robert G. Miller.

What was remarkable about this was the delivery. He was self-deprecating, and came across with emotion and heartfelt anecdotes about his early years with quite a bit of humour strewn throughout. The humour was most evident when he commented on the continuously falling curtain.

With the final words of this, I extend my gratitude and earnest appreciation for having been invited to witness the night’s festivities. Along with that, Robert G. Miller, I salute you. I salute your energy. I salute your wisdom. I salute your courage. I salute your accomplishments. I salute a life well lived and hope to see you at many more of these annual events.

Started working today at PC MAll as an account executive. They sell pretty much anything having to do with technology- computers, electronics, software, warranties, etc etc etc. Just the stuff that a big geek like me can truly appreciate and have fun with.

The only thing that can stop me is if I get a job working as the poker room manager for a cruise line, a resort, or an online gaming room...which is possible.

Nothing New

Been a long time and nothing much new to reort.

I am no longer with the Plaza 138; it's been a while.

Got a call today from the SQ asking me about my work running charity poker events; seems like the government wants to keep closer tabs on us poker people. I should look into working in the poker lounge at the casino or somewhere else, maybe Jamaica or the Bahamas. Running a poker lounge on a cruise ship would be cool too.

The problem

I figured out part of the problem with my ex. She called me and then messengered me last night and I realize that she seeks out conflicts. She is always looking at me from 3 different angles; what I am doing wrong, what I could be doing better, and what I should not be doing. Because of this, she is always looking for a fight and I refuse to play anymore.

I must say, I am loving this facebook.com aka crackbook. It's a more interesting way of reconnecting than myspace or all those other online communities. Found Amanda again or more to the point, she found me. She is as beautiful today as the day I went with her to meet her mom in order to ask permission to date her.

Met Karen again, still trying to remember from where. She gave me a nervous scare when she asked me if I noticed the complexion of her child and asked if I remembered.

Bitchy

My ex did a very interesting thing yesterday, she text messaged me. It was a simple message, "Hi." Why she did this, because she was thinking of me I guess. The bitchy part is in her follow up message not too long after, 'I just wanted to make sure you are ok, and BTW, I am happy with my decision.' What she fails to realize is that I am ecstatic with the decision!

She was never going to make the move to forging ahead and creating a life together, my friends realized this years ago, and I guess, so did I; I just was never in the right frame of mind to deal with it. Coasting along in a dead end relationship was a lot easier than ending it or forcing it to move forward.

The weird part about our relationship was that when we actually spent time together we got along great- vacations are an example and so is when her parents were away and we practically lived together for a month. Where we did not do so well is in living apart, which is something we were 90% of the time. There was no changing this because she did not want it to change and I was in a 'no changes' comfort zone. So onward we marched in a caring but passionless 5 year relationship.

I have been looking to end it for some time, hoping that every Friday night that she went out that she would call the next day and say that she met someone; it would have been such an easy door for me to take. I could feign anger and resentment while cheering deep inside that I was free to live again...the long wait would have been over.

Buying her computer was the best thing that could have happened; finding those pics of her naked ex lover was a godsend. Now I can move on without feeling like I destroyed her life in any way. Now I can move on. I guess, in a way, my stasis was a deliberate act of sabotage for this relationship, but in my own defense, it was never going to go anywhere.

Anyways, my mind is at ease, my conscience however, a little bit disturbed...not a whole lot...but enough for me to write that it is...I suppose it is because of all the things that I never shared with her, nor will ever share with her since they are irrelevant to anything. Her friends are aware of some of these things and have helped me to protect her from the hurt and the pain of them, so to them I am grateful and count on their continued discretion. Moving on is more important than closure.

Another new beginning

Another ex joins the list of exes that have come and gone; this one had been there for 5 years. I feel though, as I am breathing my first real breath in the last couple of years- enthusiastic and happy, looking forward to what life has to offer...I feel relieved.

The last few months have been pretty hellish. I've felt her being more distant, less caring and I suspected that she was having another affair. I asked her a few times and she always denied it. Now after finding pictures of a naked man on her computer- a man with whom she had her first affair years ago, all my suspicions of why she was distant, why she could never be reached at night were realized. Anyways, good riddance and good-bye to negativity; life prevails.

At the end of the day though it takes two to tangle and I know myself well enough to know that I am far from perfect. I offer no excuses for my bad behavior in our relationship, behavior which more than likely contributed to her actions and the demise of our relationship.

It's strange being in a relationship with someone who always wants to discuss your faults openly, honestly and without reservations, but then who feels attacked whenever you bring up theirs. It forces you to retreat into a shell afraid to talk...but as mentioned, they always want to discuss things, as long as it is not about themselves.

Anyways, that's over with now, and I am making myself the promise of never becoming involved in another dead end relationship. It is odd though how promising our relationship started out, I really felt this was the woman I would spend forever with; time is a cruel liar- but an honest judge of truth.

I wish her well, I wish her good health, and I wish her much happiness.
